About the event

Musicians Romek Paluch Edwards, Kristoffer Lislegaard and choreographer Rebekka Sæter are developing a new work using oil as a

starting point to research other ways of mapping more-than-human landscapes that dwell in the shadows of our consciousness, landscapes that may be saturated with narratives of extraction and exhaustion.

Maps can become tools and mechanisms for imperialist expansion and colonial extraction. During the residency at Praxis we are interested in exploring what happens when we familiarize ourselves with places and landscapes that are physically or metaphorically hidden to us, for instance from lack of visibility in how we think of them. Through a conceptual and historical approach using compositional and choreographic tools we try to map fluid spaces and investigate approaches to human-oil relations.

About the artists:

Rebekka Sæter is a choreographer and educator in Friluftsliv. She works interdisciplinary in-between body, movement, place and narrative, creating both solo and collaborative multi-art-form works together with other artists, places and beings; an inquisitive and experiential ongoing dialogue looking at resonance, affect, contact and tension. Her interest lies in critically questioning and unfolding historical and ongoing narratives that dwell in humans and more-than-human places and beings in relation to topics like conquest, power and ideas of belonging and repair.
