INTRODUCTION TO PRAXIS OSLO 

PRAXIS Oslo is a laboratory for the study of dance and movement. We offer movement classes, workshops and meeting spaces for artists in the field of dance. PRAXIS Oslo is a non-profit organisation created by freelance artists for freelance artists, that grew out of a need to gather and share knowledge of artistic practices in the performing arts community; specifically in the field of experimental dance and performance.

DESCRIPTION OF THE RESIDENCY

The residency program is open for all professional artists working within contemporary dance. We invite proposals from performance projects to research or artistic practice development.

The residencies include one week (Monday to Friday, from 12:00-17:00) of free workspace in PRAXIS Oslo’s 83sqm studio space at Hausmania, ending with an open sharing on the last day. The sharing can be, for example, a work-in-progress sharing, open rehearsal, demo performance or talk depending on the format of the project. Fees, accommodation or travel costs are not included in the residency.

In your application, we ask you to describe your project, your artistic interests and motivation as well as which week you would prefer. The project description should also include a proposal for the format of the open sharing.

The planned residency weeks are:

Week 5 (Jan 29th - Feb. 2nd)

Week 9 (Feb. 26th - March 1st)

Week 14 ( April 2nd  - April 6th)

Week 17 (April 22nd - April 26th)

Week 23 (June 3rd - June 7th)

Week 26 (June 24th - June 28th)

ABOUT THE SPACE

Our studio is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The studio is on the 4th floor with no elevator available.
